This plot documents a second-growth bottomland hardwood forest in the floodplain of Bull Run. The site is moderately well drained and contains a mixed overstory of Ulmus americana, Quercus palustris, Juglans nigra, Carya cordiformis, and Fraxinus pennsylvanica, and an understory dominated primarily by Acer negundo, Asimina triloba, and Lindera benzoin. This habitat may have once been cleared and was almost certainly grazed by livestock in the past.
